Ally Governance and Strategy Senior Analyst in New York, New York
At Ally, every individual is a risk manager. In alignment with our risk culture, this position will ensure the appropriate identification, assessment, and measurement of risk. Further, appropriate solutions will be deployed to mitigate, control, monitor, test, and report identified risks. When necessary, identified risks will be escalated to the appropriate channels to ensure reasonable resolution.
The Governance and Strategy Analyst will join the Market and Liquidity Risk Management (MLRM) team and assume various responsibilities with a focus on governance and strategy.
The Governance and Strategy Analyst will work with the Governance and Strategy Senior Director to develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures, governance routines, and internal controls for all risk areas covered by MLRM, which includes market, liquidity, and counterparty credit risk. This is an opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to enhance MLRM's existing governance and develop new processes based on new risk management requirements. The Governance and Strategy Analyst will collaborate with members of the MLRM team as well as other risk and business line partners
IRM maintains and implements Ally's risk management framework and independently oversees risk-taking activities, sets parameters representative of a strong risk culture that encourages an informed, measured, disciplined, and balanced approach to risk-taking and fair and honest treatment of customers, counterparties, and employees. IRM's responsibilities include providing an objective, critical assessment of risks and evaluation of whether Ally remains aligned with its risk appetite and risk limits.
Promote a strong risk culture by using constructive dissent to appropriately challenge using data and analysis.
Support the development and refinement of the Risk Appetite Statement by developing, maintaining, and implementing [insert function] risk appetites that align with the enterprise.
Design, implement, and conduct quality-control activities
Review procedures to ensure key processes are identified and conform to enterprise policies, standards, and procedures
Identify, log, track, analyze, develop action plans for, and remediate issues in an effective and timely manner, and perform root cause analyses to proactively identify and remediate issues
Develop and maintain policies, standards, and procedures across risk areas within MLRM's scope. Ensure all documents are kept current and reviewed in a timely manner.
Work with MLRM team members to support the implementation of policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements. This includes monitoring compliance and reporting of risk limits, developing internal controls, and performing various monitoring and testing tasks.
Support the documentation of MLRM's effective challenge reviews.
Manage the creation and review process for materials going to senior management and committees including the Market and Liquidity Risk Committee.
Interpret data to draw meaningful conclusions and effectively communicate conclusions.
Bachelor's degree (accounting, finance, banking, or related discipline preferred)
Minimum 5+ year's prior work experience (banking, treasury or financial services industries preferred)
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Ability to work independently and support multiple assignments and stakeholders simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build strong relationships across the organization
Resourceful, motivated, and action-oriented
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
