Ally Senior Database Administrator in Charlotte, North Carolina
This is a senior-level Oracle Database Administrator. This role is primarily responsible for translating business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable database systems. Viewed as the subject matter expert for the team. Manages multiple, moderately complex projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants or managers. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. This person must also develop and apply an in-depth understanding of company and industry best practice methodologies, policies, standards, and controls in order to participate in all database life management phases.
Migrate databases from Solaris to Exadata - Oracle Enterprise Linux
Provides technical documentation, automation scripting, installation, monitoring, and trouble-shooting across a large enterprise environment
Install, Configure Golden gate for data replication
Install, Configure RAC databases for high availability
Provide support on all the stages of database implementation and/or database related deployments
Upgrade databases from lower version to latest version
Participate in project meetings, as necessary, to understand application and database requirements
Ability to work independently and to resolve complex Oracle issues
Run diagnostic tools to identify database performance bottlenecks, and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance. Work with development teams to tune SQL queries.
Proactive monitoring of the databases
Troubleshoot Oracle performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other DBAs
Manage backup/recovery for Oracle instances
Management of database and resource capacity planning.
Implement and enforce database security based upon best practice, SOX regulations, and company policies
Installation of new Oracle instances and upgrades
A weekly on-call rotation in order to maintain 7x24coverage
Setting up and resolving issues with Oracle Data Guard environments
Experience in task automation and scripting languages(shell, perl)
Participate in cross-training and knowledge transfer with team members
Documentation and research of new technologies that are related to current and future team goals
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Min. experience of 7+ yr. Oracle DBA required
Proven experience installing and managing high availability production oracle database instances supporting OLTP applications.
Ability to provide technical documentation, automation scripting, installation, monitoring, and trouble-shooting across a large enterprise environment
Database server sizing and capacity planning
Database server tuning for performance and scalability
Oracle Database server internals
Oracle Database Tuning, usage of AWR, ADDM, ASH and UNIX native commands for performance and scalability
Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c (OEM) experience
In-Depth understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery requirements and solutions
Expert knowledge and experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication and troubleshooting Oracle GoldenGate Extracts, Data-Pumps and replicats
In-Depth understanding of Oracle RAC (11g and 12c), Oracle Dataguard & Dataguard broker
Experience with Oracle backup and recovery procedures using RMAN
Proven track record in supporting large number of db simultaneously
Familiarity with Exadata
Strong production support experience & customer service skills and Advanced troubleshooting techniques in support of 24x7 On-call duties
Takes the initiative to act on issues
Knowledge of enterprise architecture principles
