Ally Audit Manager, Talent Management in Charlotte, North Carolina

Position Description

The Professional Practices Audit Manager -- Talent Management, reports to the Professional Practices Audit Director -- Talent Management, and is responsible for supporting execution of the department's Talent Management strategic priorities. This involves driving talent management activities for the department including supporting recruiting practices, supporting all early talent programs, developing and delivering training, executing the required annual knowledge and skills assessment, maintaining / continuously improving the learning and development strategies and training plan, overseeing learning and development related tracking and reporting, and collaborating with other learning and development professionals within Ally.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures talent management practices align with guidance outlined in the Federal Reserve Supplemental Policy Statement on the Internal Audit Function and Its Outsourcing (SR 13-1)

  • Executes the required annual Knowledge and Skills Assessment

  • Champions acquisition related activities and ensures the Audit recruiting strategy is executed effectively

  • Supports the Talent Management Director with overseeing all Audit early talent programs

  • Aligns Audit's annual training plan with the organization strategic goals and needs of the department

  • Designs, develops and delivers Audit specific technical and soft skills courses based on the needs of the department

  • May help with planning, coordinating and scheduling department wide training events and learning hours

  • Ensures that all training is recorded, and CPE certificates are issued in accordance with NASBA standards

  • Ensures that learning and development related reporting (i.e. training hours, skills, experience and certifications) is produced timely

  • Assists with the fulfillment of learning and development related regulatory requests

  • Develops and maintains an Audit Train the Trainer program to develop in-house training design & delivery skills, i.e. build core team of learning and development facilitators

  • Works with Ally Strategic Sourcing on vendor contracts, purchase orders, and payments

  • Works with the Talent Management Director to determine and monitor the Audit learning and development budget; looks for ways to reduce costs associated with Audit vendor relationships

  • Assists the Talent Management Director with performing peer market research, benchmarking and analysis

  • May have direct reports / may develop staff through timely and effective feedback and coaching

  • Work with the Talent Management Director on new strategies and programs focused on developing the skills of experienced talent in the department


  • 6+ years of related experience in talent management strategy and / or internal audit with a focus on learning and development

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in relevant field (Accounting, Audit, Business, Finance, HR)

  • Experience in course design and facilitation and learning strategy preferred

  • Experience in learning curriculum / training plan development

  • Experience in new program development related to talent and L&D

  • The idea candidate may have course design and facilitation experience for the internal audit profession, as well as demonstrated knowledge of internal audit industry

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking & problem-solving skills

  • Experience with managing, developing and coaching others

  • Can crisply articulate areas of focus and has proven ability to manage in new and increasingly complex situations

  • Highly motivated and passionate about talent management, including learning and development

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong project management skills

  • Highly organized and detailed oriented

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change

  • Deadline driven and self-directed

  • Innovative "outside the box" thinker

  • Proficient in the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Strong ability to cultivate a network within Audit Services and build rapport with management in other areas of the company (e.g. Human Resources)

  • Certification preferred (CIA, CPA, PHR, SPHR, SPHR-SCP, aPHR, PMP, Organizational Design, Design Thinking)

  • Occasional travel required (25%)
